Who is behind Blackwing Advancements?
Blackwing Advancements was created by three guys with Minnesota roots. With a collective experience of over 45 years hunting waterfowl, we launched this enterprise by a desire to improve not only our own outings, but also the ventures afield of anyone we can reach. We have set out to make innovative, quality products that eliminate the common struggles we've all dealt with in and around the blind.
With an uncompromised respect for the age-old traditions associated with chasing ducks and geese, we're working to introduce new gadgets to today's world of waterfowling--gadgets that can keep up with your drive to continue hunting, despite frozen toes, dysfunctional fingers, and weather reports calling for more wind and snow. Ultimately, we're looking to move waterfowling forward--one advancement at a time. Thanks for checking out our company. Now, to introduce the guys behind Blackwing Advancements:

Justin Loidolt - aka - "Loid"
Brett Wilson - aka - "Wilson"
Originally from Orono, Minnesota, Wilson acquired his "duck addiction" shortly after learning to walk. From the frozen floorboards of tired, leaky duck boats, he watched his old man fold birds off the reedy points of Southern Minnesota's legendary Swan Lake, and has been on a quest to explore America's marshes with shotgun in hand ever since. Today, If he's not on the slough, you'll find him chasing trout on the river or tumbling down the mountain on his snowboard.
Throughout his ducking endeavors, Wilson has always had a close companion in Andy, who grew up just down the street from him. While gaining his English degree at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, he then met Loid. Having many common interests, they have become good friends and business partners. Wilson currently lives in Sun Valley, Idaho with his girlfriend of three years and the crew of "Sota's." He spends his summers in Alaska, working as a wildland firefighter on a BLM Hot Shot Crew.

Andrew Volkenant - aka - "Andy"
Andy is originally from Maple Plain, Minnesota, and like Wilson, got into waterfowling through weekends spent at the infamous "Swan Lake Yacht Club", also known simply as "The Shack." If he wasn't out looking for geese in the fields adjacent to his home, he was usually tinkering with anything from lawn mowers to motorcycles in his dad's shop.
Spending his collegiate years earning his undergrad in architecture at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, Andy got familiar with hunting the Minneapolis-metro area. He often came up to Duluth to hunt and have a beer or two with Wilson, and thus he met Loid. The three have become good friends and business partners in the process.
Andy very recently married his high school sweetheart. Currently, they live in Bozeman, Montana, where Andy attends graduate school at Montana State University. If he's not designing the next big thing to hit the wetlands, you'll find him
being towed around town by his horse of a black lab, Kodiak.
